My approach to fitness starts with a simple idea: the body is meant to move well — but everyone’s path looks a little different. Between different shapes, old injuries, or unique limitations, no two people move the same. I look at my job like comparing the body to a puzzle — I focus on finding the right movement, image or cue that makes the movement work for you.

Favourite Exercise
In the gym, some of my favorites are kettlebells and landmine variations. Whether it’s refining a lift, solving a tricky movement issue, or trying something new, I love helping people discover they’re capable of far more than they thought.
HISTORY
My own fitness journey has never been tied to just one sport. I’ve always loved variety: baseball, rock climbing, swimming, scuba diving, obstacle races, sprint triathlons, and plenty of rec-league fun from fencing to floor hockey. That mix of experiences still shapes how I coach today: I encourage clients to lift heavy, test their limits, and move in new ways.
Along the way, I’ve had to deal with a series of personal limitations and injuries. It’s made me more aware of how important it is to not only train to be strong today, but to move in ways that let us age as gracefully as possible and avoid complications down the road.

Joel is comfortable working with all ages, body types or experience levels. Regardless of anyone’s level of fitness, there is always a way to make exercise more adaptable to the skill level of the individual, whether that be making it easier or finding new ways to challenge clients after they conquered their current goals.
